Cowbridge Comprehensive School staff and pupils took part in a non-uniform day and paid a pound each to help finance a South African charity.

Goedgedacht Trust - poverty in rural South Africa is still widespread
The school is a longstanding supporter of the Goedgedacht Trust in South Africa. In total the school has raised £2,291 from various fundraising events which will go towards helping to build Safe Houses for orphans and vulnerable children on farms.

Hampers for the community

December 2012

Pupils at the school have been spreading the Christmas cheer this week.

Students from across all year groups within the school demonstrated their kindness and generosity when they thoughtfully assembled 58 hampers for older people and for less privileged families. The hampers were suitably trimmed and filled with fantastic festive items with a Christmas card and photo from the students.

Fair Trade cake sale

December 2012

On Friday 14 December the Fair Trade Committee hosted a cake sale in the reception area of the school.

Holly Richardson, Alice Sturgess Webb and Milly Green
The stall sold home-made cakes to promote the message and value of fair trade products. It was a great success. Barely any cakes were left for key stages four and five after key stage three students nearly devoured everything including the tables! All the money raised will go to a fair trade charity and we want to say thank you to everyone who made cakes and to those who bought them.
Without your support we wouldn’t have been able to do our part for a great cause.

Massive thanks! The Fair Trade Committee.

Cowbridge Christmas Tree Festival

November 2012

Pupils from Key Stage 3 have been attending lunchtime workshops, organised by Mrs Bright, to make Christmas decorations for a Cowbridge Comprehensive School Christmas tree to be displayed at the local church. The decorations were based on ‘The Nativity’ and Year 9 has been studying the Nativity story this term.

Plastic bottle amnesty

November 2012

We're encouraging pupils and teachers at the school to bring 2L clear plastic bottles in to school. Please place them in the wheelie bins outside A Block.

We aim to collect enough bottles to be able to build a greenhouse in the school grounds.
